The conflict between Israel and Palestinian armed groups, particularly Hamas, has been ongoing since October 7, 2023. This escalation has led to a humanitarian crisis of unprecedented proportions, particularly in the Gaza Strip, but also with significant repercussions in the West Bank and Israel.
Israel: As of April 15, 2025, more than 1,607 Israelis and foreign nationals have been killed, according to the Israeli Defense Forces and official Israeli sources. This figure includes 407 soldiers.
In the Gaza Strip and West Bank, over 51,000 deaths (including 15,613 children) and over 116,000 injuries were recorded as of April 15, 2025, according to the Ministry of Health in Gaza. According to UNRWA, the armed conflict in Palestine is estimated to have internally displaced over 1.9 million people, or around 90% of the population in the Gaza Strip. Houses, schools, medical facilities and other vital infrastructure in Gaza have been damaged or completely destroyed.
SOS Children's Villages have been on the ground in Israel and Palestine for years, providing vital aid, psychological support and a home for orphans. The most important measures include:
Life-saving access to basic supplies such as food, medicine and hygiene products
