SOS Holiday Village Caldonazzo

Carefree summer days for children in need

The SOS Holiday Village Caldonazzo offers protected time-outs for around 1,500 traumatized and troubled children from European SOS Children's Villages.

Once again this year, the SOS Children’s Village in Caldonazzo, northern Italy, is opening its doors to around 1,500 children from SOS Children’s Villages across Europe. Many of them are orphaned, traumatized, or growing up in difficult circumstances. For them, these weeks of vacation are far more than just a break—they offer a safe space that provides stability and opens up new perspectives.

A place for relaxation, community, and new hope

Between May and September, children aged 6 to 15 enjoy carefree days at Lake Caldonazzo. They stay in simple tent camps and buildings right on the lake and participate in a varied program: sports, creative activities, outdoor adventures, and shared experiences take center stage. They are accompanied by educational professionals, experienced camp leaders, and dedicated volunteers.

This time allows the children to leave stressful everyday experiences behind, form friendships, and develop new confidence. Play, physical activity, and community strengthen their self-confidence and emotional resilience in the long term.

An important retreat for over 70 years

The SOS Holiday Village in Caldonazzo has been in existence since 1953 and is thus an integral part of SOS work in Europe. Year after year, children from various countries arrive—including from Ukraine, as well as from Germany, Austria, Italy, Spain, and Estonia.

Solidarity makes these vacations possible

The fact that children can enjoy carefree summer days here is not a given. It is the result of solidarity and support. The 2026 Spring Campaign helps ensure that this program can continue, giving children moments filled with joy, security, and hope.
