In awareness of our shared responsibility for the rights and well-being of children and young people, we intend to work more closely with Corinne Bühler, children's rights advocate in Zurich and Balzers, in future. The aim of this cooperation is to strengthen Article 12 of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child: children and young people should be heard in all matters affecting them and have a real voice.
Together we want to
promote the participation of children in judicial and administrative proceedings,
further develop child-friendly structures in Liechtenstein and in the border region,
strengthen professionals through training and awareness-raising,
and raise public awareness of children's rights and the importance of participation.
Best practice: Swiss Ombudsman for Children
The Swiss Ombudsman for Children is an exemplary model of how children can be taken seriously as independent legal entities and involved in proceedings. With clear quality standards and tried-and-tested models, such as in the canton of St. Gallen, it sets standards throughout Europe. SOS Children's Villages Liechtenstein is guided by these standards and is deepening the implementation of Article 12 in Liechtenstein through its cooperation with Corinne Bühler.
