Dear employees
Since the outbreak of war, the situation for people in Ukraine has been completely unpredictable. An estimated 7.5 million children have been affected by the war in Ukraine. They and their families urgently need help.
We at Thyssenkrupp AG would also like to help and fulfill our social responsibility for people in need.
SOS Children's Villages has been working in Ukraine for 19 years, caring for orphaned, abandoned or abused children as well as families in difficult situations. Already during the conflicts over the Donbas region in 2014, SOS Children's Villages supported the children and families and has many years of experience in emergency care for children and their families. SOS Children's Villages has launched a major emergency aid programme. The following measures are at the heart of SOS Children's Villages' work in Ukraine to protect children as best as possible:
Bringing children and families to safety
Rescuing children left behind in state-run orphanages
Providing food, clothing, medicine and hygiene supplies
Providing psychosocial and health support
Providing emergency shelter for children and families who have fled abroad
As a first step, the ongoing relief efforts will benefit 60,000 internally displaced people (mainly children and mothers). Furthermore, we have taken in more than 500 children in the SOS Children's Villages in Poland, Romania, the Czech Republic and Austria, as well as setting up a child protection center in Vienna's main train station.
We thank you for every support you give to these boys and girls!
